§ 423 — Interpretation: what are technological measures, access control measures and protection measures

423. In this Division —“access control measure”, in relation to a protected copy —(a)

means any technology, device or component that, in the normal course of its operation, effectively controls access to a protected copy; but

(b)

does not include any prescribed technology, device or component;

“protection measure”, in relation to a protected copy —(a)

means any technology, device or component that, in the normal course of its operation, effectively prevents or limits the doing of any act that constitutes a rights infringement; but

(b)

does not include any prescribed technology, device or component;

“technological measure” means an access control measure or a protection measure.
