§ 47 — Power to demand names and addresses on entering premises

47.—(1) An authorised officer who enters premises under section 46 may require any person found on the premises to —(a)

give the person’s name and address and any other proof of identity; and

(b)

provide any other particulars,

as the authorised officer may require for the purposes of this Act.

(2) A person who, upon being required by the authorised officer to give the person’s name and address or other proof of identity or to provide any particulars under subsection (1) —(a)

refuses to do so;

(b)

wilfully misstates the person’s name and address or proof of identity; or

(c)

provides false particulars,

shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or to both.
