Section 51 — Authorised officers

(1)The Director‑General may, in relation to any provision of this Act, appoint any of the following individuals to be an authorised officer for the purposes of that provision, either generally or in a particular case:

(a)a public officer;

(b)an employee of a public authority.

(2)The Director‑General may delegate the exercise of all or any of the powers conferred or duties imposed upon the Director‑General by any provision of this Act, to any authorised officer, subject to any conditions or limitations that the Director‑General may specify; and any reference in that provision of this Act or its subsidiary legislation to the Director‑General includes a reference to the authorised officer.

(3)However, nothing in subsection (2) authorises delegating the power of delegation conferred by that subsection.
