Section 22FA — Interpretation of this Part

In this Part —“approved reduction”, in relation to the energy use intensity of a building, means a reduction in the energy use intensity of the building by a percentage approved by the Commissioner of Building Control under section 22FO(3) for that building;[Act 28 of 2024 wef 30/09/2025] “as-built score”, in relation to an existing building which has undergone a major energy use change, means the ES score awarded to that building upon the completion of the major energy use change;[Act 28 of 2024 wef 30/09/2025] “audit report” means a report of the result of an energy audit mentioned in section 22FN(1)(d);[Act 28 of 2024 wef 30/09/2025] “design score”, in relation to an existing building for which a major energy use change is proposed, means the ES score projected for that building upon the completion of the major energy use change, assessed based on the design of the proposed major energy use change;[Act 28 of 2024 wef 30/09/2025] “energy auditor” means a person registered as an energy auditor under section 22FC;[Act 28 of 2024 wef 30/09/2025] “energy efficiency improvement plan” means an energy efficiency improvement plan prepared under section 22FN(1)(c), and includes any energy efficiency improvement plan amended in accordance with section 22FO(4) or 22FS(1);[Act 28 of 2024 wef 30/09/2025] “energy use intensity”, in relation to a building, means the annual energy consumption of the building per unit of gross floor area (expressed in kilowatt hour (kWh) per square metre per year), calculated using the prescribed methodology;[Act 28 of 2024 wef 30/09/2025] “energy use intensity threshold” means the threshold level of energy use intensity prescribed for the purposes of this Part;[Act 28 of 2024 wef 30/09/2025] “energy-intensive building” means a Type 1 building that has an energy use intensity that exceeds the energy use intensity threshold;[Act 28 of 2024 wef 30/09/2025] “environmental sustainability score” or “ES score” means a numerical score to assess the environmental sustainability of a building, calculated using the prescribed scoring methodology;[Act 28 of 2024 wef 30/09/2025] “existing building” means any building in respect of which a certificate of statutory completion or a temporary occupation permit is issued; [Deleted by Act 28 of 2024 wef 30/09/2025] “gross floor area”, in relation to a building, means the aggregate of the gross areas of all floor spaces of the building that are prescribed (whether the floor space is within or outside the building, enclosed, covered or otherwise), but excludes any prescribed excluded area;[Act 28 of 2024 wef 30/09/2025] “major energy use change”, in relation to an existing building, means —

(a)the installation, substantial alteration or replacement of a prescribed cooling system of the building; or

(b)any other change to the energy requirements of the building that may be prescribed;[Act 28 of 2024 wef 30/09/2025] “mandatory energy improvement audit notice” or “MEI audit notice” means a mandatory energy improvement audit notice issued under section 22FJ(1);[Act 28 of 2024 wef 30/09/2025] “mechanical engineer” means a professional engineer registered under the Professional Engineers Act 1991 in the branch of mechanical engineering who has in force a practising certificate issued under that Act; “minimum environmental sustainability standard”, in relation to any building, means the prescribed minimum standard of environmental sustainability applicable to that building, or to a building of that type or class, expressed in terms of a ES score and other specified requirements;[Act 28 of 2024 wef 30/09/2025] [Deleted by Act 28 of 2024 wef 30/09/2025] “specified reduction”, in relation to the energy use intensity of a building, means a reduction in the energy use intensity of the building by a prescribed percentage;[Act 28 of 2024 wef 30/09/2025] “Type 1 building” means an existing building, or part of an existing building, of any class or type for the time being prescribed for the purposes of Divisions 2, 3 and 4;[Act 28 of 2024 wef 30/09/2025] “Type 2 building” means an existing building, or part of an existing building, of any class or type for the time being prescribed for the purposes of Division 5.[22/2012] [Act 28 of 2024 wef 30/09/2025]
