§ 283 — Showing identification card when exercising power

283.—(1) If asked to do so, a food security officer, an authorised officer or a food inspector must produce his or her identification card for inspection before exercising any power conferred on him or her under any provision of this Act except those mentioned in section 276(1)(a), (b) or (c).(2) A food security officer, an authorised officer or a food inspector who uses any identification card issued under section 281(1) or 282(1) otherwise than in the course of, or for the purpose of, performing the functions of a food security officer, an authorised officer or a food inspector (as the case may be) under this Act shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $2,500 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both.
