s 88E Composition of offences
88E.—(1) The Majlis may compound any offence under this Part or the rules made thereunder which is prescribed as a compoundable offence by collecting from a person reasonably suspected of having committed the offence a sum not exceeding —(a) one half of the amount of the maximum fine that is prescribed for the offence; or (b) $2,000, whichever is the lower. (2) On payment of the sum of money, no further proceedings are to be taken against that person in respect of the offence. (3) The Majlis may, with the approval of the Minister, make rules to prescribe the offences which may be compounded. (4) All sums collected under this section must be paid into the Consolidated Fund.[33/2017]
