s 19 Oath of office
19. —(1) Every police officer must, before entering on the duties of his or her office, take an oath of office and oath of allegiance prescribed by the Oaths and Declarations Act 2000 in such manner as may be prescribed in the Police Regulations. [Act 25 of 2023 wef 01/12/2023] (2) To avoid doubt, where an oath is required to be taken under subsection (1), a police officer may take the oath by appearing before the person administering the oath through a live video link or live television link created using a remote communication technology that allows the person administering the oath to — ( a ) maintain visual contact and communicate with the police officer taking the oath, and any interpreter present, throughout the process; ( b ) confirm the identity of the police officer taking the oath and any interpreter present; and ( c ) if the oath is to be subscribed, verify by inspection the oath to be subscribed.
