s 69 Appointments, promotions and dismissals
69. —(1) The Minister may do the following: ( a ) appoint or promote a special police officer to the rank of superintendent or above; ( b ) reduce the rank of, dismiss or discharge a special police officer of the rank of superintendent or above. [Act 31 of 2022 wef 01/11/2022] (2) The Commissioner or a Deputy Commissioner may do the following: ( a ) appoint or promote a special police officer to the rank of deputy superintendent or below; ( b ) reduce the rank of, dismiss or discharge a special police officer of the rank of deputy superintendent or below. [Act 31 of 2022 wef 01/11/2022] (3) A person who has been called up for national service in the Special Constabulary must not be discharged under subsection (1) or (2) except with the prior approval of the proper authority appointed under the Enlistment Act 1970.
