s 10 Registration of vehicles
10. —(1) Except as otherwise provided by this Act and the rules, no person may keep or use a vehicle unless it has been registered under this Act and its registration under this Act has not been cancelled. [10/2017] (2) The Registrar may charge any fees that may be prescribed for the registration of a vehicle under this Act. (3) Any person who contravenes subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $20,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years or to both and, in the case of a second or subsequent conviction, to a fine not exceeding $40,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 4 years or to both.
