s 62 Restriction on driving or riding by young persons
62. —(1) A person must not do the following: ( a ) ride on a road a test‑needed‑to‑ride‑on‑road vehicle when the person is below the prescribed minimum riding age (if any) for riding such a vehicle on a road; ( b ) drive on a road any other motor vehicle when the person is below 18 years of age. [12/2021] (2) A person who has attained 18 years of age but who is below 21 years of age must not drive a heavy locomotive, light locomotive, motor tractor or heavy motor car on a road. (3) The burden of establishing his or her age rests on the applicant for a driving licence or competency test certificate. [12/2021] (4) A person who drives or causes or permits any person to drive a motor vehicle in contravention of this section shall be guilty of an offence.
