s 28 Maintenance of footways
28.—(1) Where a footway has been constructed or improved under section 27, the Authority —(a) may issue written instructions to the owner of any premises fronting, adjoining or abutting on the footway to carry out maintenance work up to the standard required by the Authority; and (b) may, if it thinks fit, take over the footway for maintenance, in which case the Authority must issue a notice to the owner stating that the footway has been taken over by the Authority for maintenance.[11/2003] (2) The owner must not modify any footway within the owner’s land to which the public has access without the written permission of the Authority.
