Article 1

The plan regarding bovine spongiform encephalopathy presented in April 1996 by Portugal, as amended on 12 June 1996, is hereby approved.

Article 2

Portugal shall bring into force by 30 June 1996 the laws, regulations and administrative provisions necessary to implement the plan referred to in Article 1.

Article 3

1. Portugal shall notify the Commission of any intentions to modify the plan referred to in Article 1. 2. This Decision shall be re-examined as soon as possible following a notification as provided for in paragraph 1.

Article 4

The Commission shall carry out Community inspections on the spot in Portugal to verify the effective implementation of the plan.

Article 5
