Spain may obtain an additional tranche of ECU 3 million in financial assistance from the Community for eligible expenditure incurred under eradication measures relating to outbreaks of classical swine fever which occurred in the course of 1997.
The amount of the tranche referred to in Article 1 shall be paid to Spain as soon as this Decision has been adopted.
1. The Commission may make on-the-spot checks, with the cooperation of the competent national authorities, on the application of measures and expenditure in receipt of support. The Commission shall inform the Member States of the result of the checks carried out. 2. Articles 8 and 9 of Council Regulation (EEC) No 729/70 of 21 April 1970 on the financing of the common agricultural policy (4) shall apply mutatis mutandis.
