COMMISSION IMPLEMENTING REGULATION (EU) 2023/1622

of 9 August 2023

on the design of common logos to identify data intermediation services providers and data altruism organisations recognised in the Union

THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION,

Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union,

Having regard to Regulation (EU) 2022/868 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 May 2022 on European data governance and amending Regulation (EU) 2018/1724 (Data Governance Act)  ( 1 ) , and in particular Articles 11(9), second subparagraph, and 17(2), second subparagraph, thereof,

After consulting the Data Policy Committee,

Whereas:

(1)

To ensure that recognised data intermediation services providers and data altruism organisations are easily identifiable throughout the Union, the designs for the common logos to be used by such providers and such organisations recognised in the Union should be specified.

(2)

The logos should serve as EU trust marks differentiating recognised services from other services, thus contributing to trust in voluntary data sharing and to transparency in the market,

HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION:

Sole Article

The designs for the common logos referred to in Articles 11(9) and 17(2) of Regulation (EU) 2022/868 shall follow the models set out in the Annex to this Regulation.

This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union .

This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States.

ANNEX

The models referred to in Article 1 for the common logos are the following:

(a)

The horizontal logos are the primary logos. They can be used in full colour – blue and turquoise.

(b)

The reference colours are:

Green: #00A99D | RGB: 0 169 157

Blue: #1743CE | RGB: 23 67 206

Yellow: #FFFF10 | RGB: 255 255 16

(c)

The common logos shall have a minimum width size of 40 mm for printed versions and of 300 pixels for digital applications.

(d)

For leaflets, flyers, brochures and other printed material, the logos shall be provided under vector, bitmap or .pdf formats in order to avoid distortion.

(e)

The common logos shall be static, without animation.

(f)

The following negative versions of the horizontal logos shall be used on dark backgrounds:

(g)

The vertical logos are an alternate design for the standard logos in cases when the applicability of the horizontal logos is constrained due to space limitations or aesthetic reasons. They can be used in full colour – blue and turquoise:

The following negative versions of the vertical logos shall be used on dark backgrounds:

(i)

Protection area of the logos – a margin shall delimit the logos from the background and the surrounding elements. The margin should be free of all other markings, surrounding the symbol ‘n’ on all four sides. For example:

Principles to respect when these logos are used in a co-branding case: the logos should be consistent with other used logos in colour or negative versions. Also, they should all be of equal sizing, evenly spaced and aligned in a coherent way, for example:
