Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2108 of 29 July 2024 amending Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/1998 as regards certain urgent aviation security measures regarding equipment for the security screening of liquids, aerosols and gels

Article 1

The Annex to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/1998 is amended in accordance with the Annex to this Regulation.

Article 2

This Regulation shall enter into force on the day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union .

It shall apply from 1 September 2024.

The Annex to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/1998 is amended as follows:

(1)

point 12.0.4.2. is replaced by the following:

‘12.0.4.2.

Security equipment whose ‘EU Stamp’ marking or ‘EU Stamp pending’ marking status has been suspended may be operated subject to the implementation of additional compensatory measures, as appropriate. In suspending the ‘EU Stamp’ marking or ‘EU Stamp pending’ marking status, the Commission may indicate whether new pieces of the equipment in respect of which the marking status has been suspended may be deployed and operated with the addition of the same compensatory measures.’;

(2)

the following point 12.0.5.4. is added:

‘12.0.5.4.

The Commission may grant the ‘EU Stamp’ marking status to security equipment referred to in point 12.0.5.3. under the condition that it has received the evidence submitted by the Member State that such security equipment meets the standards set out in this Chapter.’;

(3)

points 12.4.2.8. and 12.4.2.9. are replaced by the following:

‘12.4.2.8.

All EDS equipment designed to screen cabin baggage containing portable computers, other large electrical items and LAGs shall meet at least standard C3.

12.4.2.9.

All EDS equipment that meets standard C3 shall be considered as equivalent to LEDS equipment that meets standard 2 for the screening of LAGs.’;

the following point 12.4.2.10. is added:

‘12.4.2.10.

Standard C3 equipment designed to screen cabin baggage that has received the ‘EU Stamp’ marking or ‘EU Stamp pending’ marking before 1 August 2024 may only be used to screen LAGs with a screening limit of the maximum volume of individual LAG containers not to exceed 100 ml.’.
