European Union Special Representative

Article 1

Decision (CFSP) 2024/2098 is amended as follows: (1) Article 1 is replaced by the following: ‘Article 1 European Union Special Representative 1.   Mr Johan BORGSTAM is hereby appointed as the European Union Special Representative (EUSR) for the Great Lakes region from 1 September 2024 to 31 August 2025. 2.   The mandate of Mr Johan BORGSTAM as the EUSR for the Great Lakes region is extended until 31 August 2027. 3.   The Council may decide to extend the mandate of the EUSR, or to terminate it earlier, on the basis of an assessment by the Political and Security Committee (PSC) and a proposal from the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy (“the High Representative”).’ ; (2) in Article 5(1), the following subparagraph is added: ‘The financial reference amount intended to cover the expenditure related to the EUSR’s mandate for the period from 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2027 shall be EUR 3 385 100,49.’ ; (3) in Article 13, the second sentence is replaced by the following: ‘The EUSR shall present the Council, the High Representative and the Commission with regular progress reports and a final comprehensive mandate implementation report by 31 May 2027.’.

This Decision shall enter into force on the date of its adoption.
