eli-container"> COMMISSION DECISION of 10 July 2026 on public holidays in 2028 for officials and other servants of the European Union serving in Brussels and Luxembourg (C/2026/3802) THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION, Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, Having regard to the Staff Regulations of Officials of the European Union and the Conditions of Employment of Other Servants of the European Union (CEOS), laid down by Council Regulation (EEC, Euratom, ECSC) No 259/68  ( 1 ) , and in particular Article 61 of the Staff Regulations and Articles 16 and 91 of the CEOS, Having regard to the joint rules establishing the list of public holidays of officials of the European Communities  ( 2 ) , and in particular Article 1(3) thereof, Having regard to the opinion of the Staff Committee, Having regard to the opinion of the Staff Regulations Committee, Having regard to the opinion of the Heads of Administration, Whereas: (1) Pursuant to Article 61 of the Staff Regulations of Officials of the European Union and Articles 16 and 91 of the CEOS, the list of public holidays in 2028 for officials and other servants of the European Union serving in Brussels and Luxembourg should be adopted. (2) In 2028, Easter Sunday falls on 16 April. (3) In 2028, 24 December falls on a Sunday. HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS: Sole Article The public holidays in 2028 for staff serving in Brussels and Luxembourg are as follows: 13 April Maundy Thursday 14 April Good Friday 17 April Easter Monday 1 May Labour Day 9 May Anniversary of the Declaration by Robert Schuman in 1950 25 May Ascension Day 26 May Day after Ascension Day 5 June Whit Monday 23 June* Luxembourg National Holiday *for staff serving in Luxembourg 21 July* Belgian National Holiday *for staff serving in Brussels 15 August Assumption 1 November All Saints’ Day 2 November All Souls’ Day 25 December to 29 December 5 end-of-year days TOTAL 2028: 17 days Done at Brussels, 10 July 2026.
