Article 1Authorisation

The substance specified in the Annex, belonging to the additive category ‘sensory additives’ and to the functional group ‘flavouring compounds’, is authorised as additive in animal nutrition, subject to the conditions laid down in that Annex.

Article 2Withdrawal from the market

The feed additive eucalyptus tincture from Eucalyptus globulus Labill., as authorised pursuant to Directive 70/524/EEC, shall be withdrawn from the market in respect of the animal species and categories other than those mentioned in the Annex.

Article 3Transitional measures related to the authorisation

1.   The feed additive eucalyptus tincture from Eucalyptus globulus Labill., as authorised pursuant to Directive 70/524/EEC and premixtures containing that additive, which are intended for turkeys for fattening, chickens for fattening and minor poultry for fattening, pigs for fattening, pigs for fattening of minor Suidae , calves for fattening, sheep and goats for fattening, cattle for fattening and other ruminants for fattening, Camelidae for fattening, rabbits for fattening, salmonids (except brood stock) and minor finfish (except brood stock), and which are produced and labelled before 15 August 2026 in accordance with the rules applicable before 15 February 2026 may continue to be placed on the market and used until the stocks concerned are exhausted.

2.   Compound feed and feed materials containing the feed additive referred to in paragraph 1, which are intended for turkeys for fattening, chickens for fattening and minor poultry for fattening, pigs for fattening, pigs for fattening of minor Suidae , calves for fattening, sheep and goats for fattening, cattle for fattening and other ruminants for fattening, Camelidae for fattening, rabbits for fattening, salmonids (except brood stock) and minor finfish (except brood stock), and which are produced and labelled before 15 February 2027 in accordance with the rules applicable before 15 February 2026 may continue to be placed on the market and used until the stocks concerned are exhausted.

Article 4Transitional measures related to the withdrawal from the market

1.   Existing stocks of the feed additive eucalyptus tincture from Eucalyptus globulus Labill. may continue to be placed on the market and used in respect of the animal species and categories other than those mentioned in the Annex until 15 February 2027.

2.   Premixtures produced with the feed additive referred to in paragraph 1 may continue to be placed on the market and used in respect of the animal species and categories other than those mentioned in the Annex until 15 May 2027.

3.   Compound feed and feed materials produced with the feed additive referred to in paragraph 1 or with the premixtures referred to in paragraph 2 may continue to be placed on the market and used in respect of the animal species and categories other than those mentioned in the Annex until 15 February 2028.

Article 5Entry into force

This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.

Eucalyptus tincture:

Tincture, as defined by the Council of Europe  ( 1 ) , obtained from the dried leaves of Eucalyptus globulus Labill. by extraction with a water/ethanol solvent mixture, pressing and filtration.

gas chromatography coupled with flame ionisation detection (GC-FID) for the determination of 1,8-cineole (phytochemical marker)

high performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) for the determination of gallic acid (phytochemical marker)

1.

The additive shall be incorporated into the feed in the form of a premixture.

2.

In the directions for use of the additive and premixtures, the storage conditions and stability to heat treatment shall be indicated.

3.

Mixture of eucalyptus tincture with other botanical additives is permitted provided that the levels of methyleugenol in feed materials and compound feed are lower than the ones resulting from the use of a single additive at the maximum or recommended level for the relevant species or animal category.

4.

For users of the additive and premixtures, feed business operators shall establish operational procedures and organisational measures to address potential risks resulting from their use. Where those risks cannot be eliminated by such procedures and measures, the additive and premixtures shall be used with personal skin, eye and breathing protective equipment.
