Article 4
Placing on the market 1. Equipment referred to in Article 2(1) shall not be placed on the market or put into service until the manufacturer, or his authorised representative established in the Community, ensures that: - the equipment satisfies the requirements concerning the noise emission in the environment of this Directive, - the conformity assessment procedures referred to in Article 14 have been completed, - the equipment bears CE marking and the indication of the guaranteed sound power level and is accompanied by an EC declaration of conformity. 2. Where neither the manufacturer nor his authorised representative is established in the Community, the obligations of this Directive shall apply to any person placing the equipment on the market or putting it into service in the Community.
