Identification of dogs, cats and ferrets
Article 74
1. Consignments of dogs, cats and ferrets shall only be permitted to enter the Union if the animals of the consignment have been individually identified by means of an injectable transponder implanted by a veterinarian which fulfils the technical requirements for means of identification of animals laid down in implementing acts adopted by the Commission pursuant Article 120 of Regulation (EU) 2016/429. 2. Where the implanted injectable transponder referred to in paragraph 1 does not fulfil the technical specifications referred to in that paragraph, the operator responsible for entry into the Union of the consignment shall provide the reading device which enables the verification of the individual identification of the animal at any time.
