Membership
Article 4
1. The EGE shall be composed of up to 15 members. 2. Members shall have competence in the tasks set out in Article 2. 3. Members shall be individuals appointed in a personal capacity. 4. Members shall act independently and in the public interest. Members shall inform in a timely manner the responsible Commission department, in the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, of any conflict of interest which might undermine their independence. 5. Members who are no longer capable of contributing effectively to the EGE’s deliberations, who, in the opinion of the responsible Commission department, do not comply with the conditions set out in Article 339 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union or who resign, shall no longer be invited to participate in any meetings of the group and may be replaced for the remainder of their term of office by a person appointed by the President of the Commission from the reserve list referred to in Article 5(7).
