Selection of associated members

Article 7

1.   Joint undertakings may launch open and transparent calls for expression of interest with a view to selecting associated members with the potential to contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the joint undertakings. Joint undertakings whose founding members are listed in Annexes I, II and III shall launch such calls. The call for expression of interest shall set out the key capacities needed in order to achieve the objectives of the joint undertaking and may request applicants to provide an indication of their potential contributions. All calls shall be published on the joint undertaking’s website and communicated through all appropriate channels including, where applicable, the states’ representatives group, in order to ensure the widest possible participation in the interest of achieving the objectives of the joint undertaking. 2.   The executive director shall assess the applications for membership with the assistance of independent experts and, where appropriate, of relevant bodies of the joint undertaking, on the basis of documented knowledge, experience and added value of the applicant in achieving the objectives of the joint undertaking, the applicant’s financial soundness and long-term commitment for financial and in-kind contributions to the joint undertaking, and taking into account potential conflicts of interest. 3.   The governing board shall assess and approve or reject applications for membership.
