Scope

Article 5

1.   This Title covers: (a) wine, as defined in Article 2(1), point (a); (b) spirit drinks, as defined in Article 2(1), point (b); and (c) agricultural products. For the purposes of this Title, the term ‘agricultural products’ covers agricultural products, including foodstuffs and fishery and aquaculture products, listed under Chapters 1 to 23 of the Combined Nomenclature set out in Part two of Annex I to Regulation (EEC) No 2658/87, and the agricultural products under the Combined Nomenclature headings set out in Annex I to this Regulation, except wine and spirit drinks. 2.   The registration and the protection of geographical indications are without prejudice to the obligation of producers to comply with other Union rules, in particular those relating to the placing of products on the market, sanitary and phytosanitary rules, the common organisation of the markets, the competition rules and the provision of food information to consumers. 3.   Directive (EU) 2015/1535 of the European Parliament and of the Council  ( 27 ) shall not apply to the system of geographical indications laid down in this Regulation.
