AN ACT APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR CURRENT EXPENSES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF MINDANAO AND SULU FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING DECEMBER THIRTY-FIRST, NINETEEN HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

Section 1

SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as may be respectively necessary, are hereby appropriated, out of any funds in the Insular Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the purposes of government in the Department of Mindanao and Sulu for the fiscal year ending December thirty-first, nineteen hundred and seventeen, unless otherwise stated.

For the expenses of the department government, including the offices of the governor and members of the administrative council.

Section 2

SEC. 2. Whenever the special circumstances f a transitory nature at present existing in the Department of Mindanao and Sulu require it, and in order to give the government of said department the necessary facilities for properly confronting any emergency that may arise, the administrative council of the Department of Mindanao and Sulu is hereby authorized to change the rates of compensation of employees and transfer appropriations from one item to another, with the approval of the Secretary of the Interior first had.

Section 3

SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect on January first, nineteen hundred and seventeen.
