SECTION 1. The first paragraph of section one thousand six hundred and sixty-one of the Administrative Code is hereby amended, so as to read as follows:
"SEC. 1661. Duties of Attorney-General.—As principal law officer of the Government, the Attorney-General shall have authority to act for and represent the Government of the Philippine Islands, its officers, and agents in any official investigation, proceeding, or matter requiring the services of a lawyer. Upon the request of the President of any of the Houses of the Legislature, the Attorney-General or his authorized representative, shall assist and attend any legislative committee that may be practising any investigation ordered by the Legislature, or by any of the Houses thereof."
