SECTION 1. The use of the unit of measure known as "picul" is hereby authorized within the Philippine Islands.

AN ACT TO FIX THE EQUIVALENT OF THE PICUL AS A UNIT OF MEASURE IN POUNDS AND GRAMS
SEC. 2. The equivalent of picul is. hereby fixed at one hundred and thirty-seven and one-half Spanish avoirdupois pounds, or sixty-three thousand two hundred and fifty grams, any agreement to the contrary notwithstanding.
SEC. 3. Any person violating any provision of this Act shall be punished by a fine not exceeding one thousand pesos nor less than fifty pesos and in case of insolvency, to suffer imprisonment not exceeding three months nor less than ten days.
SEC. 4. This Act shall take effect three months after its approval.
