"SEC. 2088 (A). Assistant provincial treasurer.—In the office of the provincial treasurer in each province, there shall be an assistant provincial treasurer who shall be appointed by the provincial treasurer subject to the approval of the Secretary of the Interior in conformity with the provisions of the Civil Service Law. His compensation shall be fixed by the provincial board with the approval of the Secretary of the Interior.
"The assistant provincial treasurer shall perform the duties which are being performed by the chief clerk and deputy of the provincial treasurer at the time of the approval of this Act and such other duties as the provincial treasurer may assign to him. The present position of chief clerk in the office of the provincial treasurer is hereby abolished and shall not be recreated except by law."
