AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL TO GRANT THE RETIREMENT OF MR. JUSTICE JAMES A. OSTRAND

Section 1

SECTION 1. Upon application for retirement of Mr. Justice James A. Ostrand from office as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippine Islands, the Governor-General may, in his discretion, grant the said retirement and thereupon the said application shall be given the same annual gratuity as that granted the other Associate Justices of the Supreme Court, as provided in section two of Act Numbered Thirty-three hundred and sixty, and in the event of death before the gratuity is paid, the remaining amount shall be payable to the applicant's estate: Provided, however, That the gratuity granted the said applicant in the year nineteen hundred and twenty for his retirement as Judge of the Court of First Instance shall be deducted from the amount of retirement gratuity which may hereby be granted the said applicant: And provided, further, That the application for retirement be filed not later than January fifteen, nineteen hundred and thirty-two.

Section 2

SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
