AN ACT GIVING DISCRETION TO THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL, THE PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE, THE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, A SENATOR OR REPRESENTATIVE AND THE CHIEF OF CONSTABULARY, TO NOMINATE ANY NUMBER OF CANDIDATES FOR APPOINTMENT AS CONSTABULARY CADETS, BY AMENDING SECTION SEVEN OF ACT NUMBERED TWENTY-SIX HUNDRED AND FIVE, AS AMENDED.

SECTION 1. Section seven of Act Numbered Twenty-six hundred and five as amended, is hereby further amended to read as follows:

"SEC. 7. There shall be appointed annually, not exceeding twenty-five cadets to be selected, after a competitive examination, from among qualified candidates as hereinafter provided. Such candidates shall be single, not over twenty-four years of age, and graduates of accredited university or college or of other institutions of learning equivalent in its academic requirements to that of a high school approved by the Government and shall be nominated by the Governor-General, the President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, a Senator or Representative and the Chief of Constabulary, each of whom being hereby given discretion to nominate any number of candidates: Provided, That the Chief of Constabulary may nominate enlisted men who through their efficient and devoted service within the Constabulary have placed themselves in the position when he considers them proper candidates for the responsible duties of a commissioned officer: Provided, further, That enlisted men of the Constabulary who may qualify for admission to the Academy as cadets shall, while undergraduates of the Academy, receive the pension and allowances of a cadet but shall not receive the pay or allowances of an enlisted man."

SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
