SECTION 1. In consideration of the unselfish patriotism and meritorious public service rendered to the Commonwealth of the Philippines and its people by the late Chief Justice, Jose Abad Santos, who was killed by the Japanese during the war, his widow, Amada Teopaco de Abad Santos, shall be paid a gratuity equivalent to three years' salary as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. The gratuity provided for in this Act shall not be subject to attachment or levy: Provided, That upon the approval of this Act no other gratuity under existing law or laws shall be granted to the late Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

AN ACT GRANTING A GRATUITY TO THE WIDOW OF THE LATE CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE SUPREME cOURT, JOSE ABAD SANTOS, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR.
SEC. 2. In order to carry out the provisions of this Act, there is hereby appropriated, out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of forty-eight thousand pesos.
SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
