WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 6629 has provided for the
establishment of an agro-industrial high school in the municipality of Burauen,
province of Leyte, known as Burauen Agro-Industrial High School;
WHEREAS, the School serves the students population of the
municipality of Burauen and its neighboring towns;
WHEREAS, the late Don Vicente Orestes Romualdez, a native of
Leyte, had not only selflessly dedicated himself to the upliftment of the masses
but also sacrificed beyond personal endurance for the welfare of the youth in
the province;
WHEREAS, the school authorities, employees and residents of
the aforesaid municipality passed a resolution requesting the change of the name
of the Burauen Agro-Industrial High School to Don Vicente Orestes Romualdez
Agricultural College to perpetuate his memory; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Education and Culture and Culture
is in a better position to determine the needs of the school and should be given
the authority to determine its ideal location in the municipality of Burauen
consistent with the objectives for which it was established;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the
Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby
order and decree:
