EXEMPTING "SAVE THE CHILDREN FEDERATION, INC." FROM THE PAYMENT OF TAXES AND CUSTOMS DUTIES.

Preamble

WHEREAS, the Save the Children Federation, Inc. (Federation)

is a non-stock, non-profit, international social welfare organization, no part

of the net income of which interest to the benefit of any of its members;

WHEREAS, in the pursuit of its goals, the Federation needs

funds and resources to support its operations and activities;

Whereas, at

present the funds and resources of the Federation are being subjected to tax and

customs duties;

WHEREAS, considering the social welfare nature of the.

Federation's activities and undertakings for child care and youth development,

which makes it a partner of the government in this regard, it is but fitting and

proper that its funds and resources be exempt from the payment of taxes, customs

duties and other fees.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the

Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby

order and decree:

Section 1

SECTION 1. Any provision of existing laws to the contrary

notwithstanding:, the funds, resources and earnings of the Save the Children

Federation, Inc., shall be exempt from the payment of any and all taxes and

customs duties to which they are otherwise subject.

Section 2

SEC. 2. All laws, decrees, orders, rules and regulations or

parts thereof inconsistent herewith, are hereby repealed or modified

accordingly.

Section 3

SEC. 3. This Decree shall take effect

immediately.

Done in the City of Manila, this 30th day of January, in the year of Our

Lord, nineteen hundred and eighty-four.
