Preamble

WHEREAS, the new Constitution took effect on January 17,

1973, following its ratification by the Filipino people;

WHEREAS, thereunder, the Commission on Elections shall be

composed of a Chairman and eight Commissioners; and

WHEREAS, it is provided in Article XII-A, Section

2, that "Unless otherwise provided by law, the Chairman and each Commissioner

shall receive an annual salary of sixty thousand pesos and fifty thousand pesos,

respectively";

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the

Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution as

Commander-in-Chief of all the

Armed Forces of the Philippines, and pursuant to Proclamation No. 1081, dated

September 21, 1972, and General Order No. 1, dated September 22, 1972, do hereby

order and decree as follows:

Section 1

SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated out of any fund in

the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated so much as may be necessary to

implement Article XII-A, Section 2, of the Constitution up to the end of the

current fiscal year. Thereafter, the necessary appropriation therefore shall be

included in the annual General Appropriations Decree.
