AN ACT DECLARING THE FOURTH WEEK OF SEPTEMBER OF EVERY YEAR AS THE NATIONAL THYROID CANCER AWARENESS WEEK

Section 1 Title.

SECTION 1. Title. — This Act shall be known as the "National Thyroid Cancer Awareness Week Act".

Section 2 Declaration of Policy.

SEC. 2. Declaration of Policy. — It is the policy of the State to protect and promote the right to health of the people and instill health consciousness among them through public education and awareness programs.

Section 3 Awareness Week.

SEC. 3. Awareness Week. — The fourth week of September of every year is hereby declared the "National Thyroid Cancer Awareness Week", in order to coincide with the International Celebration of Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month.

Section 4 Public Education and Awareness Program.

SEC. 4. Public Education and Awareness Program. — To ensure a meaningful observance of the week as herein declared, a comprehensive public education and awareness program shall be undertaken to discuss the causes, consequences, diagnoses, treatments and prevention of thyroid cancer.

Section 5 Implementing Agency.

SEC. 5. Implementing Agency. — The Department of Health (DOH), in coordination with the Thyroid Council of the Philippines (TCP), nongovernment and patients' organizations, shall lead in the implementation of programs and activities for purposes of commemorating this health event.

Section 6 Effectivity.

SEC. 6. Effectivity. — This Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.
