AN ACT APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE TRANSFER OF THE IWAHIG PENAL COLONY AND PROVIDING FOR THE SUBDIVISION AND SALE OF THE PRESENT SITE THEREOF.

Section 1

SECTION 1. The sum of three hundred thousand pesos is hereby appropriated, out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the transfer of the Iwahig Penal Colony to a place which shall be chosen by the Director of Prisons with the approval of Secretary of Justice. The funds appropriated under this Act shall be released periodically in the following manner: one hundred thousand pesos upon the approval of this Act, one hundred thousand pesos during the fiscal period ending June thirty, nineteen hundred sixty-three, and one hundred thousand pesos during the fiscal period ending June thirty, nineteen hundred sixty-four.

Section 2

SEC. 2. The present site of the Iwahig Penal Colony shall be subdivided into small lots, none of which shall exceed twelve hectares, to be sold on equal yearly installments within a period of ten years: Provided, That the buildings thereon shall also be sold but preference shall be given the purchaser of the land on which such buildings are constructed: Provided, further, That the proceeds from such sale shall be used for the improvement of penal colonies

Section 3

SEC. 3. The Secretary of Justice, with the approval of the President of the Philippines, shall issue such rules and regulations as are necessary to carry out the provisions of this Act.

Section 4

SEC. 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
