SEC. 84. Oath.—Every notary public, before entering upon his duties, shall take and subscribe the following oath or affirmation: "I, _________________________________, solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties of the office of notary public within and for the province of ______________________________according to the best of my ability and understanding, agreeably to the laws of the Philippine Islands; and that I recognize and accept the supreme authority of the United States in these Islands, and will maintain true faith and allegiance thereto; and that I impose upon myself this obligation voluntarily, without mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God. (The last four words to be stricken out in case of affirmation.) "(Signature)_________________________ "Subscribed and sworn to (or affirmed) before me, this___________________________ day of ______________________190____" The oath may be administered by the judge, or any justice of the peace, and shall, together with the commission, be recorded in the office of the clerk of the court of the province in which the notary is appointed.
