SEC. 2. Whenever the first day of January, the twenty-second of February, the fourth of July, the thirteenth of August, the twenty-fifth of December, or the thirtieth of December shall fall on the first day of the week, commonly called Sunday, then and in such event the day next succeeding shall be a public holiday in the Philippine Islands, and shall not be legally recognized as a day for presenting for payment or acceptance, for the maturity and protest and giving notice of the dishonor of bills of exchange, bank checks, and promissory notes or other commercial or negotiable paper; and all notes, drafts, checks, or other commercial or negotiable paper; falling due or maturing on such public holiday shall be deemed as having matured on the previous Saturday.
