SEC. 101. Referenda.—(1) A referendum may be held on local issues affecting the barangay upon request of at least one-tenth of the members of the barangay assembly. (2) No referendum shall be held until it has been given the widest publicity in the barangay stating the date, time, and place thereof, the questions or issues to be decided, action to be taken by the voters and such other information relevant to the referendum. (3) All duly registered barangay assembly members qualified to vote may vote in the referendum, either in writing or by declaration by the voters to the board of election tellers duly organized for the purpose by the sangguniang barangay. (4) The Ministry of Local Government shall supervise the calling of referenda on local issues in the barangay.
