s 41 Composition of offences
41.—(1) The Commissioner or any Assistant Commissioner authorised by the Commissioner may compound any offence under this Act that is prescribed as a compoundable offence by collecting from a person reasonably suspected of having committed the offence a sum not exceeding the lower of the following:(a) one half of the amount of the maximum fine that is prescribed for the offence; (b) a sum of $5,000. (2) Where any offence is compoundable under this section, the abetment of or a conspiracy to commit the offence, or an attempt to commit the offence when the attempt is itself an offence, may be compounded in like manner. (3) On payment of the sum of money, no further proceedings may be taken against that person in respect of the offence. (4) All sums collected under this section must be paid into the Consolidated Fund.
