102.—(1) Subject to any other provisions of this Act, an accused has the right to be represented in his or her defence before a subordinate military court by an advocate and solicitor, if provided by the accused, or by any officer or senior military expert in the Singapore Armed Forces.[28/2009] (2) Where an accused is not represented by a person in accordance with subsection (1) and —(a) is charged with an offence punishable by death; (b) is dumb, blind or deaf; or (c) is suspected of being mentally disordered, the president of the subordinate military court must appoint a defence counsel to assist the accused in his or her defence. [21/2008] (3) Where the accused selects a person to represent him or her in a subordinate military court, that person is authorised to do so after submitting to the court a warrant to act signed by the accused.
