(1) These regulations may be cited as the Town and Country Planning (Planning Inquiry Commissions) Regulations 1968 and shall come into operation on 11th December 1968. (2) The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply to the interpretation of these regulations as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.

Where a reference is made to a Planning Inquiry Commission in relation to any proposed development, the notice of the making thereof required to be published in accordance with section 63(2) of the Town and Country Planning Act 1968 shall be published in the London Gazette and in at least one newspaper circulating in the locality, or in each locality, where there are more than one, in which it is proposed that the relevant development shall be carried out.
