(1) The Social Security (Short-Term Benefits) (Transitional) Regulations 1974 , as amended , shall be further amended in accordance with the following provisions of this regulation.
(2) In regulation 4 (modifications relating to “contribution year” and “benefit year” under the 1965 Act) after paragraph (1) there shall be inserted the following paragraph:—
(1A) Where by virtue of regulation 3 a claim for unemployment or sickness benefit in respect of a day in the period from 2nd January 1977 to 28th May 1977 (inclusive of both dates) falls to be determined by reference to the contribution conditions in the 1965 Act it shall be determined as if the benefit year were the benefit year which by virtue of paragraph (1) ended for the claimant in question on 1st January 1977
(3) In regulation 8 (exhaustion of and requalification for unemployment or sickness benefit by a former contributor)—
(a) in paragraph (2) after the words “sickness benefit” in the second place in which they occur there shall be inserted the words “or invalidity benefit” ;
(b) in paragraph (3)(b)(i) after the words “sickness benefit” there shall be inserted the words “or invalidity benefit” .
(4) After regulation 15 there shall be added the following regulation:—
Satisfaction of second contribution condition after the end of the transitional period
(16) Where a former contributor makes a claim for unemployment benefit or sickness benefit in respect of a day which is after 28th May 1977 and which is in a period of interruption of employment commencing on or before 1st January 1977, for the purposes of the second contribution condition set out in paragraph 1(3) of Schedule 3 to the Social Security Act 1975 the relevant past year shall be the year ending 5th April 1976.
