This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Fishing Boats Registry) (Amendment) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 17th March 1988.

The Merchant Shipping (Fishing Boats Registry) (Amendment) Order 1988 (S.I. 1988/252)
The Merchant Shipping (Fishing Boats Registry) (Amendment) Order 1987 (S.I. 1987/1284) provided that in a number of cases the Registrar for a port of registry might be an officer stationed somewhere other than at that port, but did not alter the requirement that the register be kept at the port of registry. This Order substitutes for that a requirement that a register be kept in respect of each port of registry but not necessarily at that port.

Article 5 of the Merchant Shipping (Fishing Boats Registry) Order 1981 shall be replaced by the following:β
(5) A register in the form specified in Schedule 2 hereto with a consecutive series of numbers shall be kept in respect of each port of registry.
