The Public Telecommunication System Designation (Atlantic Telecommunications Limited) Order 1997 (S.I. 1997/2768)
The Secretary of State granted to Atlantic Telecommunications Limited a licence on 6 June 1997 under section 7 of the Telecommunications Act 1984 to run the telecommunication systems specified in that Licence in the East of Scotland, including the Grampian, Tayside, Central and Lothian regions. A copy of the licence was laid before Parliament on 24th November 1997. This Order designates those telecommunication systems as public telecommunication systems. Consequently, by virtue of section 9(3) of that Act, Atlantic Telecommunications Limited will be a public telecommunications operator in respect of the telecommunication systems run under that licence when this Order comes into force on 23rd December 1997.
