(1) The name of this Order is the Housing Grants (Additional Purposes)(Wales) Order 2001 and it shall come into force on 1st July 2001.
(2) This Order applies to Wales only.
(3) This Order shall not have effect in relation to an application for a grant made before 1st July 2001.

The Housing Grants (Additional Purposes) (Wales) Order 2001 (S.I. 2001/2070 (W.))
Sections 12, 17 and 27 of the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 (βthe 1996 Actβ) set out the purposes for which grants for the renewal of private sector housing may be given. The Secretary of State has the power under sections 12(1)(i), 17(1)(j) and 27(1)(j) to specify other purposes by order. This power is now exercisable in relation to Wales by the National Assembly for Wales.

In this Order, β the Act β means the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996.
For the purposes of section 12 of the Act (renovation grants: purposes for which grant may be given), an additional purpose specified is - to improve energy efficiency.
For the purposes of section 17 of the Act (common parts grants: purposes for which grant may be given), an additional purpose specified is - to improve energy efficiency.
For the purposes of section 27 of the Act (HMO grants: purposes for which grant may be given), an additional purpose specified is - to improve energy efficiency.
