(1) This Order may be cited as the Local Authorities (Proposals for Executive Arrangements) (Wales) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 28th July 2001.
(2) This Order applies to Wales only.

The Local Authorities (Proposals for Executive Arrangements) (Wales) Order 2001 (S.I. 2001/2277 (W.))
Subject to the exception below, every county and county borough council in Wales (βlocal authorityβ) is required by section 25 of the Local Government Act 2000 (βthe Actβ) to draw up proposals for the operation of executive arrangements as defined by section 10(1) of the Act.

In this Order β
β the Act β (β y Ddeddf β) means the Local Government Act 2000; and
βlocal authorityβ (β awdurdod lleol β) means every county or county borough council in Wales except a county or county borough council to which section 31 of the Act applies and which has decided to draw up proposals for alternative arrangements under section 31(4)(a) of the Act.
A local authority must comply with section 25 of the Act by 31 January 2002.
