The new highway which the National Assembly for Wales proposes to construct along the route described in Schedule 1 to this Order is to become a trunk road as from the date when this Order comes into force.

The centre line of the new trunk road is indicated by a heavy black line on the deposited plan.
The length of trunk road described in Schedule 2 to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan is to cease to be trunk road, and is to be classified as a classified road, as from the date on which the National Assembly for Wales notifies the County Council of Powys that the new trunk road is open for through traffic.
In this Order :—
(1) All measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;
(2) “the trunk road” (“ y gefnffordd ”) means the London — Fishguard Trunk Road (A40);
“the new trunk road” (“ y gefnffordd newydd ”) means the highway mentioned in article 1 of this Order;
“the deposited plan” (“ y plan a adneuwyd ”) means the plan numbered HA10/2 NAFW 4 and marked the London — Fishguard Trunk Road (A40) (Heol Draw Improvement) Order 2004 signed by authority of the Minister for Economic Development and Transport and deposited at the National Assembly for Wales, Record Storage and Retrieval Unit ( RSRU ), Neptune Point, Ocean Way, Cardiff.
This Order comes into force on 19th February 2004 and may be cited as the London — Fishguard Trunk Road (A40) (Heol Draw Improvement) Order 2004.
