s 4 Interpretation, short title, commencement, citation and extent.
(1) In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires, the following expressions have the meanings hereby assigned to them respectively, that is to say:— “ The Minister ” means, as respects England and Wales, the Minister of Agriculture Fisheries and Food , and as respects Scotland, the Secretary of State . “ The Act of 1887 ” means the Markets and Fairs (Weighing of Cattle) Act 1887. “ The Act of 1891 ” means the Markets and Fairs (Weighing of Cattle) Act 1891. “ The Principal Acts ” means the Markets and Fairs (Weighing of Cattle) Acts 1887 and 1891. (2) This Act may be cited as the Markets and Fairs (Weighing of Cattle) Act 1926, and shall come into operation on the first day of January, nineteen hundred and twenty-seven; and this Act and the principal Acts may be cited together as the Markets and Fairs (Weighing of Cattle) Acts 1887 to 1926. (3) This Act shall not apply to Northern Ireland.
