s 162 Determination of rents.

In section 24 of the Housing Act 1985 (rents), there shall be added at the end the following subsections— (3) In exercising their functions under this section, a local housing authority shall have regard in particular to the principle that the rents of houses of any class or description should bear broadly the same proportion to private sector rents as the rents of houses of any other class or description. (4) In subsection (3) “ private sector rents ”, in relation to houses of any classor description, means the rents which would be recoverable if they were let on assured tenancies within the meaning of the Housing Act 1988 by a person other than the authority.
