In section 12 of the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998 (deduction from teachers’ salaries of fees for registration with General Teaching Council)— (a) for subsection (2)(b) there is substituted— (b) required to be registered in the register by virtue of section 134 of the Education Act 2002 and (b) in subsection (4), for the definition of “schools” there is substituted— “ school ” means a school maintained by a local authority or a special school not so maintained
